Alex Aust to Return to Maryland as Volunteer Assistant Coach

COLLEGE PARK, MD – The 2013 National Attacker of the Year and two-time All-American Alex Aust will return to Maryland to serve as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Terps for the 2023 season, head coach Cathy Reese announced Thursday.

"This program means so much to me and I am grateful for the opportunity to return this season," said Aust. "This coaching staff, team, and culture is special and something that I always want to be a part of. I cannot wait to help make an impact in anyway I can"

Aust played for the Terps from 2010-13, standing second all-time in career assists with 132 and ninth all-time in career points with 275. Her 55 assists in 2013 are the second-most in a single season ever by a Terp, leading her to be named a Tewaaraton Finalist. Aust went 84-8 during her time in College Park and helped the Terps win the 2010 National Championship, before serving as the Terrapins Director of Operations during the 2014 and 2015 National Championship seasons.

"We are beyond excited to bring back Alex to our staff this season," said Reese. "Her knowledge of the game and passion for Maryland lacrosse is invaluable. She brings a great energy to our program that our girls love learning from and will help us tremendously this year."

Since time at Maryland, Aust has competed professionally in the UWLX, the WPLL and most recently in the Athletes Unlimited league and was a member of Team USA when they won the World Cup in 2017. She serves as the director of Finish Line Lacrosse and has become a major figure in the health & wellness space as a fitness influencer and model.
