“PV-02- A robot named Pivot” is a sci-fi adventure webcomic written by Zedrin, revolving around the robot girl Pivot. Designed without a definitive purpose, she’s attempting to determine more about her origins.

The story takes place in a post-cyberpunk world. Technology has advanced to create robots with sentience. Other races also co-exist with humanity, such as dagonians (an aquatic race) and demis (hybrid humanoids with small animalistic features). That said, most of the conflicts and story developments are focused on characters.

The webcomic started in Tumblr as ask blog on that was gradually built up into a full story, so some details might be a bit rough or will shape up as time goes on. However, Zedrin, the creator of the webcomic, will reboot the entire comic… eventually.

If you want to read older posts, they’ll be up here eventually, but for now you can catch them in the archives on http://pv02.tumblr.com/

PV02 Includes Examples Of:

  • Amnesiac Hero: Pivot wakes up in the middle of a abandoned place and has no idea who she is. Her main goal in the first part is to remember what she is doing in such a place.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: In one arc, Pivot and the IFS has to fight against two gigantic Behemoth monster that came out of the beach. Same arc is when she was going in a date with Socket.
  • Beast Man: The Demis are hybrid humanoids with small animalistic features such as dog tail and ears.
  • The Federation: The International Federation of Security is an organization composed of several other cities and countries that works for the security and well-being of the people.
  • Fish People: The Dagonians are an aquatic race of anthropomorphic fishes. They can range from sharks or other types of fish.
  • Gratuitous French: Flux adds a lot of French words in her vocabulary.
  • Mechanical Lifeform: The robotics and A.I. have become so advanced that they can sleep, eat or drink like any normal human being.
  • Megaton Punch: Thanks to AMP modification she has, Pivot is able to punch through enemies and obstacles with a pair of massive gauntlets.
  • Post-Cyberpunk: The description of the webcomic says that it takes in a post-cyberpunk world and it shows why. Humanity has become far more advanced than today and while somewhat corrupt, it has several moments that makes it more idealistic than the average cyberpunk setting.
  • Robot Girl: There are several characters that are female androids such as our protagonist Pivot, her work colleague Socket, the combat android Flux and Relay.
  • Three Laws-Compliant: Absolutely averted. When a Canis Demi robber tries to harm Flux, she retaliates and throws the robber into a car. When he protests that she shouldn't be able to attack him, Flux replies that the rules are all but myths and that the only reason he isn't dead is because she has conscience.
