Nicollette Sheridan Exits Dynasty: Here’s How She Was Written Out
Friday’s episode of Dynasty marked Nicollette Sheridan‘s final hour as Alexis Carrington — and boy did she go out in a blaze of glory.
This week’s installment finally reunited Alexis with her long-lost son Adam, but things turned from celebratory to sour when Adam revealed that he knows she tried to pass Hank off as her son first. It also didn’t help that Adam walked in on his estranged mother burning the evidence of the DNA results she paid to have faked.
In a surprisingly touching moment of — dare I say it — humanity, Alexis owned up to her misdeeds, acknowledging they were “despicable.” Still, she insisted she was a desperate woman who would have done anything to get her family back. Adam “accepted” Alexis’ apology, giving her permission to burn the rest of the evidence.
Unfortunately, Alexis didn’t realize this was a test. You see, Adam’s a real stickler for the truth after being lied to his whole life, so when it became clear that Alexis would never be the honest mother he’s hoped for, Adam grabbed her by the head and pushed her into the damn fireplace. (If she’d also been privy to the flashback in which Adam poisoned his other “mother,” she might not be so trusting.)
The logical conclusion is that Alexis will need extensive plastic surgery to repair the damage to her face, a procedure from which she’ll emerge looking like a completely different actress. When TVLine broke the news of Sheridan’s departure from the CW drama, we reported that the role was likely being recast, which the actress confirmed at the end of her farewell statement: “I am hopeful that my fans will embrace my successor with as much passion as they embraced me.”
Either way, fans are likely hoping for a speedy recovery for the former Mrs. Carrington; she’ll need all her strength to face off against Blake’s half-sister Dominique Deveraux (played by Michael Michele), an iconic Dynasty character joining the show in a recurring capacity later this season.
Sheridan made her debut as Alexis midway through Dynasty‘s first season, eventually being promoted to series regular for Season 2. Though she won’t be returning, Dynasty was recently renewed by The CW for a third season.

Never liked this version of Alexis. Just way too weak and stupid. Original Alexis was bad-ass and fierce. Don’t get why the writers wrote her this way.
Totally agree with this comment. I remember the OG Alexis as a strong take-no-prisoners powerhouse, the writers instead made this new version a desperate weakling. Such a shame.
The original show was well written. This one needs to be put down.

Still after that ending this week I’m sure Alexis will scheme a huge plot of revenge on her first born upon her return and who better to play a role like that than Madeline Stowe who played it so well on a show called Revenge? Side note, maybe she will bring fourth child Amanda Carrington back with her! Lol, who could play that role?

First, I think Nicolette was perfectly cast in this version of Dynasty. Alexis and Fallon are the funn-EST character.
But, she wanted to return to LA, so I can understand if they recast.

I think Olivia would make the transition easier. I love M. Stowe, don’t get me wrong, but it would feel like a pale repeat of Revenge.
Well in my opinion Nicollette is an amazing actress but the writer’s didn’t write her character the way Alexis should be written. Alexis was a powerhouse and a bitch. And this version was out bitched by her daughter. Nicollette could have handled more juicy material yet it was not given. So Madeleine Stowe, Felicity Huffman, Eileen Davidson, Kimberlin Brown, Marcy Walker, Kim Zimmer, Cynthia Watros, Signy Coleman, Jane Krakowski or Robin Wright are all worthy actresses. Ok, maybe Kim Zimmer is too old but she was AWESOME on Guiding Light.

Sad to see Nicollette go as she was my choice for the role in the first place. But her take on Alexis was more bumbling and comical. Alexis needs to be more scheming, manipulative and edgy. Although I am getting concerned. The last 3 episodes have grown progressively darker. Mark being shot and killed with Cristal being splattered by his blood (Thought maybe Alexis would be shipped off to prison but, maybe she didn’t do it.) Blake blaming his hired thug and beating him to death. (Unless he snuck up and knocked the guy out, how did he get him down to the wine cellar? The guy was younger and better built than Blake) and neither Cristal nor Anders had a problem with it?! And last night’s episode was just plain disturbing. Adam killed the mother who raised him and horribly disfigured/possibly killed his biological mother. And after last week we’re left to wonder, did Adam kill Steven? I’m seriously considering not watching anymore. DYNASTY should be campy and fun not dark and demented. My take on Alexis re-cast possibilities? Heather Locklear can nail the bitchy, manipulative Alexis hands down but, I’d always see Sammy Jo playing Alexis. What about fellow Melrose Place alum, Josie Bissett? She’s a little younger but, she’s blonde and I’d enjoy watching her make the part her own.
I, too, have been disturbed by the violence of the last few eps. Not sure if I will tune in again. I don’t like who these characters are. I watched the original from beginning to end and those characters were flawed and self-centered, but not so ruthlessly violent. Even the catfights between Krystal and Alexis were pure camp. I know it’s not a redo, but this series has turned into something I don’t like anymore.
I totally agree, most of the characters in this version the show have killed someone or don’t seem bothered that someone else did, it’s way too dark now, only Fallon and Sam are worth rooting for.

There are so many great actresses to fill her shoes: Kristin Bauer van Straten, Kelly Preston, Gail O’Grady, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Melinda Clarke, Lauren Holly, Vanessa Angel, Vanessa Marcil, Gina Gershon, Daryl Hannah, Jennifer Grey, Kari Wuhrer, Dina Meyer, Melora Hardin, Pamela Anderson, Lucy Lawless, Joanne Whalley or Deborah Kara Unger. As for blonde hair, what are wigs for?

I was a big fan of the original Dynasty and I am a fan of the the new Dynasty! My first choice would be Heather Locklear as Nicolette’s replacement as Alexis. If she isn’t available how about Jamie Lunar, Laura Leighton, Pamela Anderson would be a really good choice. I hope the writers will write better story lines for the character of Alexis and make her more of a sneaky conniving bitch than they did for Nicollette Sheridan. Either way I can’t wait to see who they cast as Alexis.
Alexis was annoying anyway I wanted her to die off long ago actually her getting burned was the best thing that happened lately the show needed a pick me up and I wish crystal knew she was responsible for the death of her baby and kill her herself
This version of Dynasty is a campy over-the-top take on the original. The write and vibe is totally different, so you really can’t compare character from this version to the original.
However, I do think something is going on behind the scenes. It made no sense to replace Cristals and something tells me there is more to Nicolette’s leaving.
But… what’s done is done and you gotta roll with it or bail.
The original was campy. This one started that way but has gone way off course into dark and disturbing.
Somebody PLEASE get Eileen Davidson on the line….

They should bring back Natalie Kelley to play Alexis. It would be Alexis ultimate revenge to look exactly like the original Crystal. It would also show how desperate she is to get back with Blake. Doubt this is really happening but would’ve a real shocker for fans of the show that miss Natalie Kelley.
When I first heard Nicolette was going to be playing Ms. Alexis Morelle Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan, I was like oh-okay… Then I thought about it and I was like ooooh-okay. I was thinking someone like Susan Lucci or Madeleine Stowe would have made Joan Collins proud as Alexis. And unfortunately, they were going with someone younger I said Alicia Minshew who played Erica Kane’s daughter on AMC would be perfect unfortunately, the writers basically had Nicolette as a filler. Now I love Michael Michele, but the only person who I can see and think would be perfect as Millie Cox aka Ms. Dominique Deveraux is Vanessa L. Williams!
Alex’s recast,Emma samms,heather locklear,Pamela sue Martian. Also love to see Joan Collins come on as Alex’s mother and Linda Evan’s as Blake’s. His father locked her up to keep the power and money.
I would love to see Jane Sibbett taking the role, she played great villains in Au Pair and It Takes Two back in the 90s and she’s around the same age and look as Nicollette
