MACKENZIE SOL, 23
We were instantly enamored with this Niall Horan/Machine Gun Kelly hybrid. Sure, the British charmer lost a few points when he revealed that he’s a professional TikTok prankster (“That’s a dealbreaker, ladies!”), but he earned them all back when he showed a tattoo of his mom’s initials on his arm. We got worried again for a second when he said he was also into magic, but that ring trick was pretty slick, so we’ll let it slide. For now.
Anyway, there’s obviously a “u” missing from Mackenzie’s last name, because this guy can sing his beautiful face off. There was so much soul in his mature performance of Sam Cooke’s “Bring It On Home,” which took all three judges completely by surprise. Speaking of surprises, Mackenzie’s audition ended with the “totally unexpected” arrival of his mom, whom he specifically asked not to come because he worried about getting too nervous. Suddenly he’s crying, his mom’s crying, we’re all crying!
Some. Good talent.
I was a bit put off by the sob stories. It’s a talent competition, not a tearjerker. That being said, Mackensie and Blake have potential, the rest didn’t impress me.
I like a little background regarding the contestants but don’t think sob stories set the stage for an uneven playing field. That said McKenna and Blake have my vote.
I was pretty bored throughout most of the show. The only ones who interested me were Blake,Mckenzie and Odell, the rest blah.
Wow! I’m watching a different show I guess. The ones who stood out to me were: Ajii, Michaela, and Jack. They were all very unique, IMO.
Mackenzie, Blake, Ajii, and Jack were solid potentials.
I liked just about everyone on the first show, but to me, Ajii was in another category from the others. Wow. That guy can sing and he’s so soulful!
Yes! Ajii is the top of the list for me at the moment. And Odell was close. His performance grew where as Ajii had me from the second he started singing
