A downloadable asset pack

To give off some backstory on the Super Mario Bros. NES font project, on a website called FontStruct, my goal was to create a TrueType that kept the spirit of the Nintendo Entertainment System / Family Computer (a.k.a Famicom), as opposed to other 8-bit fonts such as Emulogic and Press Start 2P. And now I'm finally proud to share this NES-styled font on itch.io. This font contains 1085 glyphs; 1085 is a reference to October 1985, back when the NES first launched on North American store shelves. This font is a must-own for all the game developers making indie games with 8-bit, retro, and nostalgic aesthetics.

This all-capped font supports glyphs in sections such as Basic Latin, Latin-1 Supplement, Greek (there's also the lowercase Mu for fans of the Love Live series), Cyrillic, and there are also 8-bit Unicodes such as music symbols.

So for those who want to use this TrueType for their games, go ahead! Don't forget to credit me as either Patrick Adams (TheWolfBunny64), or just TheWolfBunny64.

Amazing font! I feel this font must have been used in more NES games than just Super Mario Bros?? Do you know of any legal/license issues with using a font so similar to a Nintendo font?

Some characters of this font were seen in other games; take the question mark for example, it was seen in Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream, Kid Icarus, the Game Over screen for Super Metroid, and Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters. The main 26 characters were used in other 1st-party NES games, like Excitebike for example.

This could prove useful for some of my future projects. Thank you for the resource.

Hey, my pleasure!

BTW, how can you be reached out to/contacted? I wanted to try and get your advice for a fan project I'm drafting that may interest you.

I have a Discord, and I would be more than glad to check out the game you're currently developing via DMs!

While games are part of my concept, it's really an animated series with a premise that is similar to your very own Bandai Namco All-Stars document series.

Niceee

Really neat stuff

Thanks! I've given this font one more tweak!
