Ariocarpus retusus var. furfuraceus is the fastest growing species in the Ariocarpus genus. It can still take 5 to 10 years to reach flowering size. It is one of the more robust and forgiving species in the genus as well, making them perfect for those without much experience with Ariocarpus. It is a very unusual looking cactus with hair rather than spines.
Plant the seeds 1/8 “ to 1/16” deep in a well draining potting soil. Keep the soil moist, but not soaking wet and keep between 70°F to 80°F for best results. Germination usually occurs between 10 and 25 days.
