4 Reason 1: Market opportunity - Hybrid Cloud
Hybrid Cloud is the preferred cloud adoption method in Europe. Primary functions for cloud services are storage and backup. Customers move to cloud for increased security, which conflicts with a RightScale report listing security as the top concern for businesses interested in the cloud. Data sovereignty, GDPR, flexibility, Malware attacks, cost control is key for CIO’s. Source: Techrepublic

5 Reason 2: Ease of deployment: Hybrid Cloud platform
Problem statement: Flexpod takes too long to put together(BOM), price, order & implement Exec Sponsors: Thomas Ehrlich, Alfred Manhard – Exec supporters: Walt Blomquist & Tim Russell Reason why More convenience around deployment of Flexpod. In order to be competitive, NTAP-Cisco needs to deliver the automation in order to setup the platform including the app’s quicker for end customers. This fully automated install process will also attract a new channel base, the one that is not predominately interested in infrastructure but in functionality and applications. The choice of adding MSFT to the mix is based upon market size and MSFT’s appetite to cooperate with the Hybrid Cloud strategy that this platform represents. Solution Day-Zero install of Flexpod (Mini) running MSFT MGMT components Automated (NPS) connection to Azure to support hybrid scenario’s Automated Wizard to complete customization Flexpod platform SW IP at arms length to avoid Legal issues, but NTAP is in driving seat RE functionality, GTM & pricing Solution delivers Bursting workloads into Azure Back up into Azure Site recovery to Azure Test & Dev in Azure Customer need Delivery of instant working platform at customer prem Channel Tap into new (SW) partners like MSFT System Center resellers in EMEA active in Ingram Db alone TAM $2.4B Generic Commercial market TAM storage EMEA $148M Realistic 12 m opportunity. calculated # based upon IDC storage tracker and NTAP share Planning Status Launch starting FY17 ISV chosen to build SW needs assist from Prod Ops.
