The Japanese pop diva Namie Amuro made the shock announcement last September that she will be leaving the entertainment industry. To mark the end of her 25 years in the industry and also to bid her fans goodbye, the 40-year-old held her last concert tour not only around Japan but also across Asia since February this year, with her final stop in Tokyo on 3 June.

The songs performed during this concert are actually the top songs voted by fans, more notably “Can You Celebrate?”, “Fighter” and “Hope”. In addition, the final concert also included six new songs from Amuro’s all-time best album “Finally”.

As her concert tour came to an end at Tokyo Dome, Amuro thanked her fans with tears in her eyes. In contrast with her usual greeting “See you again!” at the end of her past live performances, the Queen of J-pop gave a 3-minute long speech for the first and the last time.

“From 16 September onwards, I will not have the chance to stand on a stage like this anymore. This is why these 25 years have become my most important memories. Thank you to all the fans who supported me and contributed to my wonderful 25 years worth of memories.”

Filled with gratitude and overwhelming feelings, Amuro ended her speech saying, “Lastly with a smile, take care everyone! Bye bye!”

Released in 1997, Amuro’s song “Can You Celebrate?” made its mark in Japanese music history as the best-selling single by a solo female singer.

While some fans thanked the singer in return for all these years, others were heard pleading her not to quit the industry. Nonetheless, it was a bittersweet ending to Amuro’s final concert tour.
