About This Listing

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at one of Electro Voices most elegant microphones ever manufactured and sold as a variant under the Ampex label. These Ampex H-1390 dynamic microphones are much rarer than the Electro Voice 623's that were made during the 1950's. Clean, modern, simplistic...the 623 / H-1390 microphone was manufactured as a "general purpose" mic and it has a strong, clear signal set at high impedance.

You'll see in pic # 2 an old E.V data sheet showing the mics basic characteristics. Again...the E.V 623 and Ampex H-1390 are the exact same microphone.

The polished chrome housing has a museum quality finish with virtually zero cosmetic wear.  This is one of the nicest H-1390 mic I have ever offered for sale. The tip looks amazing as well. The Ampex badge shows zero wear and still completely legible.

I try to provide the clearest pictures possible so you know exactly what you're getting. There are zero dents on this old girl. 100% original and in perfect working order which includes the on / off switch.  The joint mechanism works perfectly with plenty of adjustable tension and the threads for both the cable and stand are perfect. This mic takes a standard screw on 4 pin cable. Same cable used by the E.V 664 and Shure 545 / 545 S.

You'll notice in pic # 12 & 13 that there is a 4 pin cable adapter. It's not part of this sale but if you don't want to bother with finding a 4 pin cable then this adapter is probably what you really want.

The 4 pin to XLR adapter allows you to use a modern XLR cable with this mic and these adapters are sold by a gentleman on Ebay who goes by the username BLUETRADERBOB. he specifically makes these in his machine shop and his work is flawless. He sells them for about $45.00 a piece and they screw right onto the mic. If you need more info please just ask? Thanks.

This would make a very fine addition to any vintage microphone collection and the if you plan on using this for broadcasting you'll be surprised at the big sound and quality of the signal.

I would rate this mic a conservative 9 on a scale of 1 - 10. This is ready for just about any live event. It's omni-directional so it tends to pick up sound from the sides as well as the front. I have been told that these are good to use when playing the guitar.

This mic will screw onto any American desk or floor stand.

MICROPHONE STAND IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

As with all my vintage microphones...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the original purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS ARE WELCOME as well. I have had problems recently collecting on payment for items sold so PLEASE do not purchase this item unless you are capable of paying within 24 hours. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
