Description

Rhipsalis Paradoxa is an epiphytic cactus with long, beautiful vines that hang from their pot in a chain-like fashion. This is why this Brazilian native is also commonly called ‘chain cactus’. This cactus does not only offer subtle beauty, but is also a very rewarding, low maintenance plant!

The shoots of Rhipsalis Paradoxa branch as they grow, giving the plant a full, lush look. This plant will look stunning in a hanging planter or on your plant shelf!

Rhipsalis are unlike other cacti in that they aren’t native to hot and dry desert regions of the world, but are tropical plants native to rain forests. This is why Rhipsalis prefer a warm but humid environment and lower light conditions. These cacti do not only offer very decorative foliage, but can also bloom almost year-round.

Rhipsalis Cassutha likes to grow in a well-lit area free from direct sun, although it will tolerate some morning sun. Keep the plant root-bound and only repot it when absolutely necessary.

Water your Rhipsalisregularly throughout summer, but be sure that the plant does not have wet feet constantly – a well-draining potting mix for cacti is essential. Though winter keep the plant warm, and well lit whilst reducing watering to half as often as the summer months.

If you tend to forget to water your plants, you should consider getting some more species from our succulent category.
