The thelocactus matudae is a beautiful globular cactus plant that is native to Mexico. It is a member of the thelocactus genus, which consists of approximately 30 species of flowering plants.

Due to its minimalist appearance, the thelocactus species is one of the most unusual and distinctive members of this genus. It grows up to 8 in. tall and 6 in. wide in low altitudes and has broad leaves and tiny tubular white-pinkish, dark purple flowers that bloom in summer

Although it is known to be toxic, it will make a unique and interesting addition to any garden ( Be sure to keep it away from children and pets). This adorable species of thelocactus is closely related to subsp. buekii, but it differs in that it has longer tubercles, more spines, and larger flowers. Due to this distinctive shape, the name of such a unique cactus directly means "nipple cactus" in Greek.

But what makes it unique! is how simple it is to maintain; it only needs a little watering and partial shade. These plants favor a well-drained soil mix with specialized succulents potting soil, so it's easy to find a succulent potting mix at Planet Desert. But that's not all – it's also an extremely drought-tolerant species and requires minimum attention.

So whether you're an experienced green thumb or new to gardening altogether, the Thelocactus matudae is sure to be a stunning addition to your home or garden!
