Craig David Named Member of Most Excellent Order of the British Empire

The UK garage legend is recognized for his services to music

UK garage legend Craig David has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to music, as BBC News notes. He was named in the annual in the New Year’s Honours. “Thank you for all the Love you’ve all been showing me for so many years,” Craig David exclaimed. “I appreciate & Love you🙏🏽 I am very honoured🎖.”

Craig David broke out in 1999 as the vocalist on Artful Dodger’s “Re-Rewind (The Crowd Say Bo Selecta).” He released his debut, Born to Do It, in the UK the following year. The album topped the UK charts, but David failed to reach No. 1 again until his 2016 comeback album Following My Intuition. Craig David’s most recent album, 2018’s The Time Is Now, includes collaborations with GoldLink, AJ Tracey, and others.

In recent years, M.I.A. and Dizzee Rascal were also made Members of the Order of the British Empire.
