Diane Kruger Says Studio Movies Are 'Not That Interesting to Me Anymore' – and Would Love to Appear on 'This' TV Show

Diane Kruger knows just the medium she wants to infiltrate.

“I feel like television has taken over so much that there’s a whole new platform for actors and talent to grow,” Kruger told PEOPLE at the New York premiere of her latest movie, The Infiltrator, on Monday.

“What studios are producing is not really all that interesting to me anymore,” the German-born actress, who turns 40 on Friday, said about the industry in which she’s worked for the past 12 years.

Kruger is starring in the Broad Green Pictures-distributed film alongside one of television’s most successful actors – Bryan Cranston – who won four Emmys for his role as Walter White on AMC’s Breaking Bad.

The two posed together on the red carpet Monday, with Cranston in a classic black suit and Kruger in a sheer red dress with racer-cut back.

Kruger, who appeared on FX’s The Bridge in 2013 and 2014, has joined other film stars who are crossing over to the small screen in search of dynamic roles. Acclaimed actors including Jessica Lange, Jane Fonda, Matthew McConaughey and Kevin Spacey have now played popular characters on TV shows across a variety of platforms.

And it looks like Kruger wouldn’t mind joining Spacey inside the Beltway.

When asked which show she would want to work on, the Inglorious Basterds actress had an answer ready: “Oh my god, I love House of Cards.”

She also listed Better Call Saul as a favorite – which could mean a reunion with Cranston, 60, who recently said he’d join the Breaking Bad prequel if series creator Vince Gilligan asked.

“If they were to call me and say, ‘We have this idea, we’d like ‘ – I would say: ‘Yes, you don’t have to finish the pitch, I’m there, what do you want me to do?’ ” he said.

The Infiltrator hits theaters nationwide Friday.
