Jamie Lee Curtis Celebrates 25 Years of Sobriety: 'There Are Others Out Here Who Care'

Jamie Lee Curtis is marking 25 years of sobriety.

The Academy Award winner, 65, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram Saturday to commemorate her personal milestone of being "clean and sober" for a quarter-century.

"25 years clean and sober. One day at a time. 9,125 of them," Curtis wrote. "What's inside, as my old friend Adam sang, is a sense of calm, serenity, purpose and the greatest feeling that I am not alone. That many others share the same disease and solution."

"For all those struggling with addiction and shame, there are others out here who care," she added. "My hand in yours. Our hands in yours. XO JLC."

Alongside the touching caption, Curtis uploaded an image of herself holding a ring, which featured the inscription "JLC TWENTY FIVE."

Several famous friends including Michelle Pfeiffer, Sheila E., Tatum O'Neal and Maria Shriver helped celebrate Curtis' milestone anniversary in the post's comments section.

"Thank you for sharing your experiences, strength & hope," wrote drag queen Mrs. Kasha Davis. "You inspire many including this fellow alcoholic #onedayatatime 🦋."

Back in July, Curtis reflected on her past struggles with opioid addiction during an interview on The Morning Joe. At the time, she explained that her "worst day was almost invisible to anyone else."

"I'm lucky. I didn't make terrible decisions high or under the influence that then, for the rest of my life, I regret," she said. "There are women in prison whose lives have been shattered by drugs and alcohol, not because they were violent felons, not because they were horrible people, but because they were addicts."

"I am incredibly lucky that that wasn't my path," the Haunted Mansion actress added.

Curtis, who has previously been candid about her experience as an "opiate addict," told PEOPLE in 2018 that her addiction lasted until 1999.

“I was ahead of the curve of the opiate epidemic,” she said. “I had a 10-year run, stealing, conniving. No one knew. No one.”

Curtis added at the time that getting sober was her "single greatest accomplishment … bigger than my husband, bigger than both of my children and bigger than any work, success, failure."

“I’m breaking the cycle that has basically destroyed the lives of generations in my family,” she continued. (The actress and mother shares daughters Ruby, 25, and Annie, 34 with her husband, Christopher Guest.)
