Britney Spears’ family, friends plan intervention out of fear for her well-being

Britney Spears’ family and friends were in talks to host an intervention for the pop star, Page Six can confirm.

Amid growing concerns for Spears’ mental health, her husband, Sam Asghari, her manager, an interventionist and doctors planned to try to convince the “Hold Me Closer” singer, 41, to get treatment and sequester her in a house in Los Angeles for two months, TMZ reported Thursday.

A source tells Page Six exclusively, however, that the intervention never took place because it was deemed “unnecessary.”

“Unfortunately, there is a lot of hysteria in the media right now, but Britney is fine, and much of this has been overblown and grossly distorted,” our insider shares.

The intervention was reportedly scheduled for Tuesday, but plans were eventually scrapped.

According to TMZ, Spears did agree to meet with a doctor — although it is unknown if it was a therapist or physician — and the meeting “went well.”

Insiders also claimed to the outlet that people in the “… Baby One More Time” singer’s inner circle had grown concerned for her well-being due to a medication-related issue.

Reps for Spears did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

Meanwhile, it appears to be business as usual for Asghari, 28, who posted a video of himself and his wife on a shopping trip Wednesday on his Instagram Stories.

“Matching outfits at target,” the “Family Business” actor captioned the clip.

Reps for Asghari could not immediately be reached either.

The “Stronger” singer has insisted repeatedly that she is not ill after a string of recent incidents that called her mental state into question.

In January, Spears was filmed getting upset while fans invaded her privacy and recorded her at a restaurant. Other fans later called the police to perform a wellness check on the “Crossroads” star after she deleted her Instagram.

Like her family, fans have expressed concern about Spears’ mental health.

However, cops confirmed to Page Six at the time that Spears was not in any kind of danger, adding, “We don’t really talk about any kind of mental health issues or anything like that.”

The “Overprotected” singer then took to social media to deny that she’d had a breakdown, writing on Instagram, “It is what it is … nope I’m not having a breakdown … I am who I am and moving forward in my life. I have never felt better !!!”

She also said her fans had gone “too far” by calling the police.

Spears has had a long history of people trying to control her life and her actions.

The “Oops! … I Did It Again” singer was legally locked into a 13-year conservatorship, in which her father, Jamie Spears, had total jurisdiction over her personal and financial affairs.

Britney once alleged during court testimony that, as a result of the guardianship, she had been forced to go to a mental health facility against her will in early 2019.

Following much public criticism, Jamie, 70, was suspended from his daughter’s conservatorship in September 2021 before its termination weeks later.

According to TMZ, Jamie was not involved in the intervention plans this week. His reps could not immediately be reached.
