After suffering a serious head injury during the Gold Cup match against Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico have confirmed Hirving Lozano is out of the tournament.
According to an official statement on Sunday, the Napoli winger will be out for four to six weeks.
“After the shock he received during the Mexico vs Trinidad and Tobago game, Hirving Lozano was taken to the hospital where he was treated and subjected to different medical studies after the severe blow and hyper-extension of the neck,” read the statement.
“The forward had a reconstruction of the wound in his left eyebrow by a plastic surgeon, and after the favorable results of the studies, the player is already at the hotel in recovery.”
“However, it will require a subsequent neurological evaluation.”
