Trailer for ‘Book of Boba Fett’ revealed: ‘Every galaxy has an underworld’

A peek at the newest addition to the “Star Wars” universe series has finally arrived.

A trailer for “The Book of Boba Fett” — a much-anticipated spinoff of Season 2 of “The Mandalorian” — dropped Monday, giving franchise fans a first look at the live-action show, telling of “legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.”

The 1-minute, 48-second trailer features a familiar mix of suited, galaxy-hopping humans and strangely featured humanoid creatures engaging in galactic battle, fate-changing conversations and otherworldly social gatherings.

“I am not a bounty hunter,” a Bobba Fett voiceover begins the trailer.

“I’ve heard otherwise,” a mystery character responds. “I know that you sit on the throne of your former employer.”

“Jabba ruled with fear, I intend to rule with respect,” Boba Fett answers as the action ramps up.

“Every galaxy has an underworld,” hypes the clip’s YouTube caption.

The Lucasfilm-produced series stars New Zealand actor Temuera Morrison, 60, and the actress Ming-Na Wen, 57, who starred as Fa Mulan in the animated musical adaptation. It is set to begin streaming on Disney+ this Dec. 29.

It is executive produced by “The Mandalorian” creator Jon Favreau as well as Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson.

The “Boba Fett” series was first teased to observant fans who stuck around ’til after the credits while watching the Season 2 finale of “The Mandalorian” last year, the Wrap reported. A post-credits scene revealed the spinoff series was in the works.

“So this is actually separate from ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3,” Favreau clarified last December, as both “Boba Fett” and the third “Mandalorian” season occur on the same timeline.

“But what we didn’t say in that announcement is that the next show coming up, [Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy] said the ‘next chapter,’ and that’s going to be ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ and then we go into production right after that on Season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian,’ back with the main character that we all have known and loved,” he went on, according to the Wrap. “So that’s going to be pretty soon following that. So we’re working on that pre-production now, while we’re in production on ‘Boba Fett.’”
