Best Buy Is Listing A Physical Release For Shovel Knight On Nintendo 3DS

Shovel Knight is a game that deserves plenty of sales. At present the game is only available to download via the Nintendo eShop but if a Best Buy listing is correct than the critically acclaimed 2D game will be getting a physical release. The US retailer has listed Shovel Knight for Nintendo 3DS, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, on their website.

Update: Yacht Games confirms physical version of Shovel Knight are under consideration.

  1. Interesting. I don’t really see the point, but, if it gets more sales for that amazing game, I’m all for it!

  2. Good for the company, there are people who will buy the physical version just to have it. I have it on my 3ds, and hell I could eventually buy the hard copy. I haven’t beat it yet, but its very fun and challenging. It’s one of those games you want to dig into hard, but don’t want it to end.

  4. This is fantastic if true (along with Retro City Rampage getting a physical release). More indie devs/companies need to be doing this with their digital only games, even if its just on a “minor” system like the 3DS or Vita (as is the case for Child of Light) or have a limited print run of them (such as Firefly Diaries and Class of Heroes 2). I personally would never pay actual money for a digital copy of a game, but I will gladly throw my cash around all day if I can get real versions of a game.

Hopefully this (and Retro City) include all of the DLC packs/patches released for the games and they will be day-1 buys for me.

Now I just need physical releases for Sonic 4, Comic Jumper, Bastion, all of Nintendo’s eShop stuff and MegaMan 9,10,XStreetFighter (among others).
