Okay, I'm kind of annoyed at how the author made two near-rapes scenes as the main source of problem and then Kirito saves the day. I'm referring to when Asuna was kidnapped and how Sinon turns out to have a yandere stalker who almost raped her. AND THEN KIRITO SAVES THE DAY! This kind of annoys me for some reason, I just don't like this type of conflict to be used more than once in a story, not to mention that Kirito's is the only male character that at 90% saves the day and gets the girl. All the other male characters don't usually appear as much and have a lot of character or are complete douchebags, that's the only problem I have with SAO, everything else is fine with me.

Also, now I'm slightly paranoid of my guy friends in real life .-.

Why did Sinon need a scope if she has magic night vision binocular eyes?

I guess if want an explanation for this then, in real life a scope has to be fixed and precisely adjusted for the rifle its on. So simply having "binocular vision" or some other magnifying device not fixed to the rifle really wouldn't help you shoot any more accurately, it would just help you see.

Though if you were a sniper in some fantasy anime setting I guess super binocular vision would actually help you spot targets, which I'm assuming is why she has it.

Oh, goodness, the near rape scene was uncomfortable to watch and felt really unnecessary. Not to mention, her getting the resolve to fight was sort of thrown to the side with Kirito saves the day! The episode was pretty good up until that unfortunate turn of events.

Rape scenes could be such potentially powerful scenes, but SAO just doesn't get them right. It doesn't make me hate the villain and cheer for Kirito to kick his ass. The scene itself wasn't uncomfortable because it was a rape scene, it was uncomfortable because of how cartoonishly evil the friend suddenly became.

An insignificant side character suddenly becoming relevant and ties down with the main antagonist of the series.
I didn't expect this, which is what makes it great.
This was a good episode that compensates for the past few eps. I honestly haven't been enjoying this arc has much as I wanted to, but this episode got me pretty tense.
Can't wait for next week, hopefully next arc gives me a more better opinion of this season, or rather the whole series overall after I finished the godawful repugnant latter half of the first season.

...Oh god, please, don't let this go downhill the same way SAO did. Not another shitty second arc...

Either way, why do both series have men who want to rape the main female leads? In SAO I we had Sugou, and in SAO II we have Shinikawa. Does the author have a rape fetish or something?

Gosh, wish they made Sinon more independent, than just like the rest of the girls in Kirito's harem. Still won't show Asuna's reaction to that somewhat intimate double suicide. Shinkawa was predictable. Of course Kirito remembers his name in the nick of time, aand comes to save Sinon that quick. Like wasn't he in the hospital? Aren't there tests or something? And wouldn't he have to deal with Asuna crying over him? That would take a while I think.

The thing is i barely see him play the game, so his motivation doesn't even make sense.

And watching Shinkawa and Shino scene... and not to add that Hanae Natsuki voiced him, oh gosh that was creepy. Kirito to the rescue!

^Irony, because whether they decide to do Caliber and MR or Alicization, the second arc will be the batter one this time around.

Probably.

Cliffhanger again, attempted rape scene again, both unwelcome.

I think the main problem with the rape scenes in this anime is that they just go on too long -- they stretch out "oh look this character is obviously evil" way longer than necessary (both for story-telling purposes and what would happen in real life). Still, I suppose all the posturing gives enough time for Kirito to arrive to save the day.

Kirito shows up to save the day again too, which was expected but I was hoping Sinon would kick that guy's butt all by herself -- she was shaping up to be a strong female character despite all the earlier gun-phobia angst. But no, the harem must win out I guess.

Also thanks to the opening for spoiling character reveal. Death Gun and one "hand" still at large, but his identity was revealed so will probably get mopped up next ep. Probably new arc after next ep; should be interesting.

Great episode!

I am confused about something though. So if someone can clarify this for me, I would appreciate it.

They figured out that Death Gun was actually 3 people, 1 in the game, and 2 outside the game that were doing the killing. Shinkawa tells Sinon that he is one of Death Gun's hands and one of the people who uses the syringe to kill. He also states his brother is involved. Did they clarify if the brother is Red Eyed Zaza or just the other hand that killed using the syringe? Meaning we still don't know the identity of the 3rd person, correct? So that means there is probably going to be another episode to this arc to clarify who all the Death Gun participants are.

I don't read the manga, so I just gathered all of this from what they've shown so far. Which to me means there is still unanswered questions in this story arc.
So glad that I'm not a huge manga reader, because the manga readers WHINE WAY TOO MUCH and have to RUIN every adapted anime for the ANIME ONLY WATCHERS!

Ohh wow I don't remember him being so creepy in the novels. And they really are trying to make Sinon out to be weak, I am pretty sure she put up more of a fight in the novels but I forget.

How long is this series? Is it 26 again? I wonder where this is going to go now, are they going to use one of the other arcs again?

What I find funny is that people try to make logical sense out of this anime to justify why they hate it. For example that Sinon could snipe Death Gun without her scope. I believe that because she wanted to help kirito and found her strength to do it, she took the chance.
She was not trying to kill Death Gun but surprise him momentarily so that Kirito could take the opportunity to win.
There are million other shows where things doesn't make sense. And it doesn't have to, because it's anime. So seriously, stop using that as an excuse to bash the show all the time. There are tons of other shows with less "realistic" things going down.
ex. Jinrui wa suitai shimashita. You have a talking bread and chicken.. try making sense out of that, I dare you xD

The whole complain is retarded, she used the red line to see her aim, you can shoot even if you have no scope, so i don't see why anyone is complaining, its retarded, LOL

Kirito outright states that she is not sniping, she is distracting. She simply pointed the gun at Death Gun and prepared to shoot without targeting - the prediction Line still appears, even if she will miss. Hence why its a "phantom bullet" - its an illusion of danger.

By far the best episode of SAO II. My goodness A-1 Pictures adapted this Phantom Bullet arc perfectly in my opinion. The fight between Kirito and Death Gun aka Zaza was animated so well. The action scenes were top-notch and the OST made it much better. The aftermath with Kyouji going crazy was also animated so well. They really made Kyouji look as creepy as possible and it definitely made the scene very intense. Kirito coming in to save Sinon was great. Looking forward to the overall conclusion next week and probably the beginning of the Caliber arc and eventually Mother's Rosario~

I'm not really surprised that Shinkawa had connections to Death Gun, because if you watch the opening carefully (which I always do) than it is already hinted. Then we have the funny/awkward scene in which BoB ended with Sinon and Kirito as winner.

Then we get the 'rape-scene' with Shinkawa (brings back memories from the previous season) *cough* Oberon *cough*. The faces those creepy guys in SAO have always scare me.

So... to me at least, this was the best SAO episode since episode 14 of season 1.

Ever since the beginning of the second arc last season, the series has sorta become stale for me. Even if the show is still cliché, at least they did it right with this episode IMHO. A great swordfight that doesn't skimp with lame techniques, Sinon and Kirito getting a 2-person win with that grenade (a bit of creativity in a SAO episode? wow much surprise), spine-tingling/unsettling "almost rape scene", etc.

All in all, I'd say the whole episode had a fascinating vibe to it. Finally got me more pumped for the series. Let's just hope they don't pull another season 1 and make the second arc A-level crap.

The phantom bullet was a pretty clever trick and how Kirito dropped that name in his monologue to link it back to the title of the GGO arc was freaking cool! Beginning with Kirito recalling DG's name, Sinon's intervention, Swordland bursting into my ears, that guitar solo, the slow motion sword play, basically how the tide of the battle turned in a matter of seconds was the highlight of the episode for me.

Both of them won BoB. Great! So cliche. Anyway, Death Gun was revealed. He had many identities. The first one was Shinkawa, the youngest and the other Shinkawa, the eldest. I don't think there are others though.

Episode was great! Nice combat there from Kirito. But the ending was predictable as fuck if you ask me.
