A Morganton man received drug charges after an early Thursday morning traffic stop.
Robert Alan Foster, 63, of Morganton, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and failing to stop at a steady red light, according to a release from the Morganton Department of Public Safety.
Foster was charged after an MDPS officer conducted a traffic stop on a red passenger car for failing to stop at a red light around 1:14 a.m. Thursday, the release said.
A person in the vehicle was on probation and engaged in criminal activity, resulting in a probation search of the vehicle, the release said.
The search turned up several empty wrappers for suboxone that were not in a prescription bottle, a meth pipe, a set of digital scales and a small plastic baggie with some methamphetamine in it, the release said.

When the officer searched Foster, a prescription bottle containing a large baggie of methamphetamine and $1,528 in cash was found, the release said.
Officers ended up seizing 19 grams of methamphetamine total, the release said.
Foster has a previous conviction of possession of a schedule II controlled substance from 1989, according to records from the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.
His bond was set at $10,000 secured, the release said.
