Tim Roth to be Guest of Honor at the 13th FICM

The Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) is honored to announce that Tim Roth, British actor, director and screenwriter, will be Guest of Honor at its 13th edition, where 600 millas (2015) by Gabriel Ripstein, Chronic (2015) by Michel Franco and The War Zone (1999), his only film as a director, will be presented.

Tim Roth Tim Roth

Tim Roth began his career as an actor when he was 21 years old. He had his first starring role in Made in Britain (1982) by Alan Clarke and he was launched to fame in Hollywood in Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Pulp Fiction (1994), both directed by Quentin Tarantino, who has attended FICM on three occasions. In 1995 he won the BAFTA award for Best Supporting Actor in Rob Roy, by Michael Caton-Jones, and received Golden Globe Awards and Academy Award nominations. In 1999 he had his director’s debut in The War Zone, winner of the CICAE prize at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) and the Best First Film award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, among other awards for the film which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. His success as a director has not kept him from acting. In his career, Roth has done over 50 films and television projects, working with renowned directors like Stephen Frears and Peter Greenaway, two British filmmakers who will be at FICM this year. He has also worked with Robert Altman, Woody Allen, Werner Herzog, Wim Wenders, Francis Ford Coppola and Michael Haneke. Roth recently collaborated with two Mexican directors – Gabriel Ripstein in 600 millas and Michel Franco in Chronic.

In honor of Roth’s visit, the 13th FICM will present his sole work as a director, The War Zone, and two of his most recent films directed by Mexican directors, 600 millas and Chronic. The last film will have its Mexican premiere at FICM. In this regard, Michel Franco said, “I’m very happy and proud to present Chronic for the first time in Mexico, especially because Tim Roth, who has been my closest collaborator in this film, will be there.”

It is an honor for FICM to have Tim Roth at its 13th edition and we are especially grateful to the British Council Mexico for making this visit possible.
