43853103 – 220v Oki Fuser Unit (60000 Copies)

Electrophotographic printers use a fine toner powder to make the image on the page and then fix the image, normally using a combination of heat and pressure as in this case.

This fuser is comparatively short lived with a rated life of just 60,000 pages. On the other hand it is quite low cost for a fuser and very easily changed – its is effectively just another cartridge.

In principle fusers can be run until they fail outright. If that is done backgrounding and offsetting (ghosting) will become a problem, which is probably not what you want from a colour printer.

Graph of wholesale price history

The coloured graph lines track the fluctuations over time of the wholesale prices charged by different upstream suppliers. Even allowing for occasional pricing errors, this frequently highlights the wide variance in price over a product's lifetime, which is reflected in the final retail price.
