One of my favorite museums in Paris! It has one of the best views of the Eiffel Tower. It also has a really fun nightclub called The Yoyo attached to it. This modern art museum feels like it has it all. A hip restaurant, the coolest gift shop in town, and not to mention great art. One thing I love about it is that it is never too busy or crowded like other museums in the city.
I can't believe I'm making a separate paragraph about the gift shop, but I really love this gift shop. Not only does it seamlessly incorporate its art into the shop, but it has super fun stuff for sale. My all time favorite things to stare at nonstop are the pretend pills. There is one that helps you "become fluent in French"... there is another that gets your "cat to sing like Celine Dion."
Like most museums, the exhibits rotate. On my long layover visit in 2022, everything looks completely different from 2017 (ignoring the gift shop and line of Palais de Tokyo posters). I highly recommend checking this museum out if you're spending a while in Paris.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Werrick A.Spicewood, TX0591May 2, 2024
Was very excited to see cutting edge contemporary art, what a disappointment. The exhibits were total garbage with no depth or engagement. The only positive was there was no line to get in. Save your time and money.

I was here to check out a few new designers for the Paris fashion week 2018. PdT this year's shows have some really awesome up and coming, hard working new designers that I would love to see them do well in the global fashion scene.
Already working with a few very prominent ones. Good luck with all because you all have worked really hard!!
Oh and yes, there is a nice little restaurants here and a gift shop. It's a nice place to visit when you are in town and in the area.Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 13Oh no 0 - Dec 9, 2018
This is one of my favorite museums in Paris (and actually maybe in the world). Between the two times I visited, a couple years apart, every exhibit has changed. So I assume it's almost entirely made of temporary exhibits.
The museum is dedicated to contemporary art (conceptual/postmodern "WTF art", as opposed to modern, 20th century, Picasso, etc. Like MOMA PS1 vs. MOMA, in NYC.). It has a couple of exhibits at a time and I spent about 1.5-2 hours.
Worth a trip if you're into contemporary art.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 2, 2018
Pros:
-Interesting art
-Water closet/restrooms
-Water in the cafeteria
Cons:
-Entrance is a bit hard to find depending on what street you enter from--be careful or you'll end up in the museum next door.
Overall, a fun activity for 12 euro. It's somewhat small, but there are ~1.5-2 floors of art and it's somewhat interactive.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jimmy L.Cary, NC17Jul 14, 2019
Wow! The museum is beyond description. One would assume good remarks come after such an intro. This review is for the restaurant. First the positives: Menu sounded good. Now to the reality. As we waited for apps, I noticed some movement at ground level. It was a mouse that scampered behind where my wife sat, and for a moment I really thought it crawled into my wife's purse! I told the wait person and she got a little embarrassed and blamed it on the old building? I don't know, if you see one you know there are many more that's not seen. Okay, eventually when our dishes came out the server poured a sauce on my wife's fish and asked if my daughter wanted it on her dish also!
Seriously? Now the server is changing how the chef imagined the dish? He got embarrassed when I mentioned that and he scampered away like the rodent.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Angelica C.Frankfurt, Germany779322003Aug 22, 2016
All contemporary art. Nothing wrong with it, but I've definitely seen better (subjective). Also the selection is small.
I came for the view, then again you can see the tour Eiffel from many different areas.
3 stars for being open lateHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sam O.Paris, France1703561123Jul 30, 2015
Visited twice in the same week as I loved the current exhibitions (summer 2015). The place is huge and offers a great spot to wander during a rainy afternoon. Ticket price Is 10 euros (8 € for students) and the added guided tour is only 2 €. I do recommend to take the tour as you will get the full insight on artists and their creations.
Knocked a star because of their coffee shop. Will not recommend it as the coffee is blah and the brownie I had was very average and dry. (6 euros for nothing)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Hieu H.Los Angeles, CA286564490Dec 11, 2016
How best to describe Palais de Tokyo? A little slice of Brooklyn in the stuffy 16th arrondissement. Expect hipsters and a lot of avant-garde performances and art.
The modern art museum is located in a great area - right on the Trocadero that has amazing views of the Eiffel Tower from across the Seine. When I went, there wasn't a lot on display except for a lot of performance art that made me feel like I was in one of those Girls episodes where they go to some weird art performance in Brooklyn.
From the outside, the Palais de Tokyo doesn't look big, but once you enter the site, it is massive encompassing multi-levels. There's a killer gift shop with a great library of art and photography books. There's also a lively cafe and cafeteria.
It's open a lot later than other museums and makes a great late-night spot to get your art fix on.
Also, I should have been better informed on the exhibits. Once you enter, a hipster will ask you "What is the riddle?" If you have a good answer you get to proceed on to the main exhibit, if not, you get regulated to the lower levels to show how utterly un-cool you are.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
