Doctors are great but the system is not like it used to be. Rueben, train your associates better and never make assumptions!!

So I had a 3:15 appointment and I'm just getting out @ 5:19. There is a serious lag time in getting in to see the doctor.
I was forced to go because I ran out of a script & they told me I had to see the doctor first before I could get it refilled. I would just as soon take none of these drugs (I mean I'm not even getting high from them )
As it turns out its been over 1 year since my last physical so I figured I might as well have the tests done. I guess the fact that I have insurance they figured out they might as well order everything deluxe and do Lab Tests, EKG, Ultrasound (Am I pregnant ?). Anyway 2 hrs seems a bit excessive. The attending resident doctor did a very good job and was very through, but the front desk staff leaves a lot to be desired.
When I arrived the girl asked me if I could hold on for a minute. I waited for about 5 minutes and finally realized there were a couple of other people that could have checked me in. When I left there were only 2 people. As I walked out the first person just walked away and didn't say anything so I checked out with the other person.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Jan 6, 2016Previous reviewI have been seeing 1 doctor here for years, but lately I haven't been very happy with the diagnosis & treatment. I have an ongoing issue for the past year where I have trouble with shortness of breath & wheezing. I was diagnosed as having asthma. It seems like lately even with the medications my condition seemed to be getting worse. I tried to book an appointment and as faith would have it the earliest he could see me was Jan 26th. I didn't want to wait that long as I am experiencing shortness of breath & a heart rate that elevates much faster then it use to. I got an appointment with a different doctor today.
After checking in at the desk I was assigned to an exam room where my vitals were taken, i.e. Blood pressure, heart rate and temperature.
Helen the nurse practitioner came in and we went over my issues of concern. Helen is awesome. I think I got more personal attention from her in 1 exam then I have in several years from the other Doctor. We quickly reviewed my history & the medical treatments I have been receiving. Being a nurse practitioner she was able to accurately diagnose my problems & talk about potential treatments above & beyond what the other physician diagnosed. Helen left the room & returned with Dr Holmes
Dr Holmes came into the exam room with Helen and reviewed the items discussed and did another exam. He was able to tell by my breathing & wheezing that there was a structural issue in part of my lung that is a probable cause for the increase in wheezing. He also ordered an EKG because of my heart rate and found atrial fibrillation with a heart rate of 140 beats/min & suggested several options. Option 1 one was out patient treatment which he said could be risky because of the the drug prescribed could possibly slow my heart to a dangerously low level or Option 2 was to check into the hospital for observation while tests are done and and echocardiogram test.

Third time my co-counseling appointment was cancelled at Nesset Pavilion. I've only been there once after the first two times it was cancelled. I normally go for physical appointments.
Your mental health care system is horrible. After being assured the counseling practice will fix this issue during my last appointment over a month ago, I'm given another cancellation notice.
They asked me- will you be coming back?
You know, there are people out there needing this help more than me; they feel like they don't matter.. and some die because of it.
I have been there but I held on.
I know I'll be back to a more reliable practice but how can you ask those questions to those who are suffering in their head as you put them aside again & again?
What about *their* hope of recovery?
What about *their* consistent courage to return again, admitting their weakness' in exchange for strength, to be better?
How long do you think they will last if you keep turning them away?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marcin D.Grimsby, Canada46213Feb 25, 2019
Excellent service. Front desk people are very helpful and do their job competently. I get appointments the same day I call in to schedule. I rarely wait longer than 5 minutes in waiting room. Doctor staff is knowledgable.
I had a shin injury from badly scraping them on deadlifts during my crossfit competition and it got infected. Made an appointment at nesset. Got in pretty much immediately. Was prescribed antibiotics. On a follow up, doctor said wounds were not healing good so he sent me to wound care so now I'm getting them treated by wound specialists.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sonya M.Glenview, IL1412930Oct 31, 2019
I've been coming here for awhile now and I am pleased with my experience. Dr. Vlahos is the best medical provider I've been going to for all of my healthcare needs. Dr. Vlahos is always putting her patients needs first, she is kind and is a good listener. I always get an appointment when I need it, and wait time is very short. Her team is very kind and helpful. Thank you Dr. Vlahos!

This place has gone down hill. First off, they forced me to come in for a yearly check-up just to get a refill on my inhaler. What? I've had asthma since elementary school and now I'm 26. Scheduled an appointment for 3:10 on Monday. To be called on Monday around noon time to be told that the initial receptionist that scheduled my appointment was wrong, and there were no doctors to see me. They found an opening for 4:10 the same day. It's 5 and I'm still waiting to be seen. What the serious fuck is going on here!

Horrible- If you expect efficiency, reasonable response times, information on your Dr. no longer being part of this practice- Then Find somewhere else to go. 25+ years at this facility. My primary retired. Since it's been a nightmare. Literally 48 minutes, 5 phone calls( different person calls back with no notes as to the previous person s name or notes re: conversation) -
I'm awaiting another call. 3rd person today " will talk to the Dr. and call you back"
Find another office.
I miss small and personable in my health care. Its ALL about the $.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Atalissa D.Chicago, IL07Aug 2, 2017
the staff is always very helpful and sweet while checking in and paying. Sometimes there is a little bit of a wait but for the most part they are as on time as you would expect a Doc's office to be. I moved into the city but still come here for all of my annual stuff and labs because I know I'm in good hands while here.

This is not a favorable review, folks, and is based on my observations of the quality of care my partner has received as an outpatient at Nesset Pavilion.
My partner's predominant problem is simple: pain. Unremitting, intense pain
in her left and sometimes right leg, and sometimes arms as well. We chose Nesset because it's associated with Lutheran General Hospital, where my partner previous had received excellent treatment, years before pain became an issue.
Initially, the newbie doctor we saw was affable, eager to help any way she could, and a good listener. Over the course of a year or so we were referred to neurologists (one made the cover of TIME magazine, proudly displayed in his office) who, after spending ~35 minutes reviewing the (electronically stored) case history each responded with "well, keep taking whatever you're taking, we can't (really) do anything for you.". One other, of East Indian descent, couldn't figure out how to load an MRI cd onto her computer so she could review it. Hmm. Impressive!
Months (and months) go by [with no actual treatment supplied], we get a new newbie who's also very affable and interested, appears to understand how severely my partner's pain affects her activities (bed-rest more than anthing else), her sleep (terrible).. et cetera... so we're in a wait-and-see situation (still). I seriously don't think any sort of real (read:effective) treatment will be forthcoming, howsomeever. I'll keep you posted.
In defense of Nesset, part of the problem seems to be that most doctors do not accept Medicaid patients though some of those in the Lutheran General network -do-. Feels to -me-, though, as if there's an unwritten, unspoken protocol for (non-) treating patients who do not have Medicare, Blue Cross, Aetna or any additional insurance which is: in quick, out quicker. I'm going to try the 'self-pay' route, see if $$$ makes them work any harder.
