David Y.
In the heart of Houston's Chinatown, we've been serving traditional Cantonese food since 2002, and our chef-made dishes are staying true to their cultural origins with bold flavors and fried finishes. Our most popular dish is our black pepper lobster, and our regulars can't get enough of it! Speaking of regulars, we've built a community of them, and they'er the reason we're so committed to making improvements while maintaining the traditional flavors we're known for.

This place has HUGE portions and the food is bomb! Would love to come back here more often
At my aunts recommendation, we came here to celebrate Mother's Day. It was super busy and already had a wait out the door at 1130am. We waited for about 30 min for a party of 5, but smaller parties were seated faster before us.
We ordered soo many dishes, and ALL (minus the soup$ of them hit. My favorites were the tofu with king oyster mushroom and beef with onion. The flat rice noodles were also yummy, though a little overcooked. The string beans were also delicious, but I personally thought it was oversalted. The eggplant dish is also solid. Seriously, everything was so good and flavorful, and the portions are huge! The soup however lacked any taste/flavor. I usually like fish maw soup, but no one really wanted to finish their soup. They recommend adding red vinegar to it but that also did nothing for me. For a group of 5, we definitely over-ordered with 7 dishes + 1 soup. Pretty sure they also douse the food in MSG because we were OUT for the rest of the day.
Service was super quick and efficient, even on such a busy day! They also brought out paper plates/forms/knife at the end since we brought a cake. The place isn't the fanciest, inside or out, but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.
Note: I believe they have a 5% discount if you pay in cash!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 283293Mar 30, 2024Updated review5 check-ins
Best lobster In town. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Just know it's a no frills place. When you enter, you see a large fish tank.
We got seated right away in one of the big tables. We order a number of items. Some of the highlights include Peking Duck, lobsters , Jade tofu with king mushrooms, snow pea leaves with garlic and salt & pepper pork chops.
There are a number of choices for the lobsters on how you want it cooked... fried, ginger & onion, etc. our go to is the black pepper & butter. Sauce is very tasty... hard to describe... very satisfying. Peeking duck was delicious. Skin was crispy. Wish they used crepe instead of bao. Another favorite is the jade tofu with king mushrooms. It comes with brown gravy sauce that complements it very well.
We plan to come back again not too far in the future whenever we are craving for lobsters.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 12, 2023Previous reviewThis is our go to restaurant for lobsters. I've been to other places but they are either pricier or smaller in size.
We came in on Friday night and place was packed. If you come during Mon to Thu, there is no wait. We did not wait too long... about 15 mins to get seated.
There were seven of us so perfect to try one of their banquet menus. The smallest one which is supposed to be good for 8 people but it would definitely accommodate more.
Started with crab with fish maw soup. Peking duck came next... duck was delicious but the bao is a bit tough. Probably too long on the microwave when hearing it up. Saw them do in another occasion.
Steamed tilapia was probably one of the best dosh of the night... aside from the Peking duck and lobster. Lobster was yummy! Could not get enough of the taste.
Other notable dishes are the short ribs, Jade tofu with oyster mushroom and snow peas with garlic. Can't go wrong with these items.
We had so many left overs as the banquet menu also came with string beans with duck, honey walnut shrimps and seafood fried rice. Everyone left happy and full! Our friends had never been here before and they said they will come back.
The restaurant is located in a strip mall on the other end of Fiesta grocery. Inside, it's a typical Chinese restaurant with an aquarium near the entrance and tanks on the opposite side that contains different live shellfish and fish including king crab, lobster and Dungeness crabs. That's a sign of a good seafood restaurant!
It was busy that night so it may be hard to flag down the server for water or napkins. They are friendly and efficient.
We will be back whenever we crave for lobsters again! If we get enough people to go, maybe we can order the larger banquet menus. - Mar 27, 2024
Take this review with a grain of salt since I didn't order any seafood at a seafood restaurant... But I came here midday on the weekend and it was practically empty. Lots of tables and staff waiting around so at least the service was quick! It's honestly set up like any other Asian restaurant this place doesn't really stand out amongst the others. The fried rice was bland and Peking duck was average. It's all authentic and on the cheaper side. Maybe the seafood makes up for what this place is lacking to me.

Mediocre food with very bad service. Came to Confucius previously and had a positive experience but my second visit left a lot to be desired. The food was overall not very well flavored; the lobster special was $40 for tiny pieces that were difficult to eat and mostly batter. The server was impatient and kind of rude. I would skip in the future.

I love eating here with my family! The food is flavorful, and they have such reasonable prices for their big portions. The only downside is their customer service. They were a bit rude and I felt rushed when ordering, but it's kinda expected when you're eating at a Chinese restaurant like this. Nonetheless, I always enjoy the ambiance coming here with my family and will recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a good meal!

I strongly advise the Vietnamese community to avoid patronizing this Chinese restaurant due to the deeply disrespectful and discriminatory treatment I recently encountered. Despite being a loyal customer for nearly two decades, I was met with blatant racism when attempting to place a to-go order for Mother's Day. Upon revealing my Vietnamese identity, the owner abruptly terminated the call and explicitly stated they no longer serve Vietnamese customers. This egregious behavior is not only appalling but also completely unacceptable in any establishment. It is incredulous that a business would operate with such overt prejudice, especially towards long-standing supporters. I implore those in the community to refrain from supporting this establishment until appropriate action is taken to address and rectify these abhorrent practices. It is my sincere hope that the relevant authorities swiftly investigate and take decisive action to hold this racist establishment accountable for their reprehensible actions.

Best cheap Chinese more authentic food. We went during Xmas super early before the crowd rush and wait around 5pm.
Quick service. Borderline hole in the wall but well kept enough.
Waitresses are nice Asian establishment standards iykyk.
Greens were awesome. Wish the portions were a lil more but that's abt it. Clams are clammy fyi. Can't go wrong. They have.l a good reputation for years. Especially for their lobster special. We don't eat lobster but you can try.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 8, 2024
4.5 / 5 stars. Delicious Authentic Chinese Food. Came here with family. Ive been coming here for a very long time. I barely come here is bc of the area. I always feel unsafe but the food is very good. They did remodel inside where it's alittle spacious and modern. This is family style where everyone eats together. We order Salt & Pepper Squid 4/5 stars, Salt & Pepper Fish 4/5 stars, Stir Fried Green Beans 4/5 stars, 1/2 Phoenix Cold Chicken with ginger sauce 4/5 stars, Hong Kong Beef Fillet (tomato sauce) stir fried with onion 5/5 stars, & last but not least fresh Gigantic King Crab 5/5 stars. Waitress was attentive.
