Sony is said to be developing a PlayStation Portable-like gaming console. Tokyo-based consumer and gaming tech giant has been coming up with gaming consoles, popularly known as PSP as well as PlayStation Vita.
The upcoming portable PlayStation is dubbed as 'Q Lite' and the launch date appears to be before PlayStation 5 Pro, as per Insider Gaming report.

PlayStation 5 Pro is expected to hit the market in late 2024, therefore, the portable gaming console segment might make a release in early 2024. However, Sony is yet to confirm the details.

According to an Insider Gaming report, the dubbed Sony 'Q Lite' flaunts an 8-inch FHD LCD touch display. It is expected to support 60 fps streaming.

The report also highlights that the new console is not designed for cloud-streaming purposes. Instead, it employs Remote Play, a feature that Sony has been promoting recently, to connect with the PlayStation 5.

With Sony Remote Play, gamers can enjoy playing their favourite PlayStation games on different devices, such as tablets or smartphones. However, it demands a device with high specifications and fast internet connectivity, and some games may not be compatible with it.

Additionally, the report mentions that the Sony Q Lite portable gaming console would resemble the dual sense controller for PS5. It would incorporate features, such as adaptive triggers to deliver haptic feedback, as well as in-line options like volume buttons, speakers, an audio input jack, and more.

Curiously, the recent revelation regarding the portable Sony gaming console coincides with Asus's announcement of their upcoming portable ROG gaming console, which appears to be heavily influenced by the PSP in terms of design. Despite this announcement, Asus has not yet disclosed any official release information.
