Jean Ferrat (1930-2010), he was a French singer and composer who became famous in the early 1960s. He was mostly known for singing Louis Aragon’s poetry but also for his political songs (he was a communist). He sang about subjects such as the Holocaust (first artist to do so in France), love, injustice, racism, feminism, historical events such as the Paris Commune or the rebellion of the Potemkin (Russian battleship) crew against officers, the excesses of communist parties, loosing his father during WW2 (his Russian-born father was deported to Auschwitz in 1942 and died there)… He was censored various times during his career.

He was a wonderful composer and is still praised for his beautiful melodies nowadays. He also had an amazing and unique voice. Jean Ferrat is considered to be one of the greatest French artists ever.

I personally find him very handsome, I think he wore the mustache very well!
