This 316 Stainless Mercury Manual Release valve works on most all Mercury Trim Tilt Units but be sure to match up part numbers before ordering. 

This valve also uses Viton Seals to avoid tearing when using this relief valve this is another major upgrade. 

This was originally made from plastic but after rebuilding thousands of Trim & Tilt Units we had major issues due to this poor design, All the Units we rebuild in-house come with a 2 Year Warranty and the plastic manual release valve was so problematic that we came up with this solution. 

A few of the issues with the plastic version of this is they are mold injected and do not hold a tight tolerance we have ours spun from High Quality 316 Stainless on a Million Dollar Automated CNC Machine to ensure dimension and precision is accurate every time you get a part from us. This tolerance issue can cause units to leak down, get stuck, and even snap off from. 

This is a emergency function that is critical and should not be overlooked and very often these relief valve sheer off and fall apart when you try to use them, potentially leaving you stuck. 

Also the tips of the Plastic version break off inside the unit and create a huge issue without the proper tools extracting the piece can be damaging to the unit. 

Also we receive dozens of units every year with this valve drilled out leaving the entire unit useless, the machined internal seal surfaces must be perfect or you will acquire leak down issues etc. 

Lastly be careful what you buy in todays world many Chinese companies are selling knock off parts and it wouldn't be so bad  if they actually made them properly and of the correct material and tested them, but they only care about flooding the market with cheap junk.

I should have bought it first.

My 1992 Mariner Force 75Hp outboard had a failed black Pressure Reducing Valve which the tip broke off in the casting (had a recall on this item). The suggested repair was to replace with new "white" PRV which I bought online. It didn't fit my unit and was too long. Thinking what a headache a broken tip was to repair, I decided to purchase the stainless steel model. After giving the details to Adam, I received the SS PRV which worked perfectly (after I properly filled and bleed the trim/tilt assy. I couldn't be happier knowing of all the troubles I might have we my dad's boat, this will not be one of them.

Merc Manual Release Valve

This Merc, stainless steel vs old plastic/nylon, manual release valve upgrade was critical to the rebuild of the Trim/Tilt unit on my 1994 50 hp Merc outboard. The tip of the old, plastic/nylon valve screw had fractured and was embedded in the manifold bypass valve seat. I carefully extracted the broken plastic fragment and installed the new stainless steel bypass valve screw I obtained from Five Star Marine. All of the parts I ordered from Five Star Marine for this rebuild fit perfectly. After reassembly and reinstallation of the T/T unit it functions like new, no more leaky cylinder or bypass valve screw. The T/T unit now holds the outboard in position with no position drop or draw down. Your prices are reasonable and shipping was prompt. Thank you. D.J.

Great product - works as promised

Had hell with plastic OEM plug - broke the head off and had to figure out how to remove it without leaving any parts in the housing. Got it out and replaced with a this stainless steel replacement!

Plastic crap!

Perfect high quality replacement for the stupid plastic screw you broke. Fits through the hole in the mounting bracket. Used on a '92 mariner 80 horse.
