'Twin Peaks' cast lobbies to keep David Lynch attached to revival

While the fate of Showtime’s Twin Peaks revival hangs in the balance, a few people important to its success have come out to show their support for David Lynch.

Many familiar cast and crew members from Twin Peaks came to record a video describing how unimaginable it would be for the revival to move forward without Lynch. The show’s co-creator recently announced he left the show after a disagreement over how much money it would take to produce the scripts in the way he envisioned directing them.

Twin Peaks and Salem actress Mädchen Amick posted the video on her WhoSay account, while also linking to a Facebook page labeled the “Offical Twin Peaks cast run site.” The video asks each of the actors to finish a simple statement: “Twin Peaks without David Lynch is like…” many of them make references to the show, and specifically their own characters, as they give their answers.

Cast members (in order of appearance) who speak in the video include Sheryl Lee, Dana Ashbrook, Sherilyn Fenn, Amick, Peggy Lipton, James Marshall, Kimmy Robertson, Gary Hershberger, Catherine E. Coulson, Wendy Robie, and Al Strobel. Jennifer Chambers Lynch, David Lynch’s daughter and the author of The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer, appears at the end of the video as well. Grace Zabriskie and Charlotte Stewart are also quoted at the end of the video.

Kyle McLachlan, who was signed on to reprise his role as agent Dale Cooper in the revival, does not appear in the video.

Showtime released a statement after Lynch announced his exit, saying the network hopes it can continue to work on Twin Peaks with both of the show’s co-creators, Lynch and Mark Frost. Whether that means Showtime is willing to go on without Lynch or is working on a deal to satsify the creator and have him return remains to be seen.

However, the cast’s support for Lynch certainly indicates it might be difficult to bring back many of the show’s notable alums without having Lynch involved.
