Sheekey's Hat Trick Not Enough to Lead Men's Soccer Past Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla. - Eckerd forward Luke Sheekey recorded a hat trick but it proved insignificant as the 14th-ranked Rollins Tars (10-0-1, 3-0 SSC) defeated the Tritons (5-4, 3-1 SSC) by a score of 7-3 on Wednesday afternoon at Barker Family Stadium.

In the first half, the Tars appeared to be on their way to a 2-0 halftime lead before Sheekey struck for his first goal in the 42nd minute. In the second half, Rollins wasted little time regaining its two-goal lead as Adam New scored for the Tars in the 50th minute.

After Sheekey scored on a penalty kick in the 66th minute to make it 3-2, Rollins would go on to score four goals in the span of eight and a half minutes. In total, seven different Tars registered goals in the high-scoring affair.

Sheekey made the trifecta complete in the 89th minute, beating Rollins goalkeeper Aaron Rokeach for the third time.

Rokeach made seven saves to earn the win while Adam Skiff made three saves in his first start of the year.

Eckerd will return to action Saturday, October 10 as it hosts Nova Southeastern at 7pm at the Turley Athletic Complex.
