Si vous passez un jour par Limoges, dans le Limousin, allez à Oradour-sur-Glane, village-martyr.

plan_natio.jpg Oradour-sur-Glane is a small village in central-western France.
During WWII the German Nazis occupied France, causing destruction to many areas across the country. On the 10th of June 1944, a Nazi division invaded Oradour-sur-Glane , after reports that a German officer was being held hostage at the nearby town of Oradour-sur-Vayres.

On this morning they sealed off the town confusing the town with Oradour-sur-Vayres. They prohibited people from entering and exiting the town and seized the town people’s identity papers. The women and children were taken and locked in a local church while the men where led to barns, where their legs were shot before the division set the barn alight, killing all 195 men, except 5. All 642 people were killed in a matter of a few hours. To this day, the town has been left in the same state that it was left on this day in 1944.
