Hi folks,

If I plug a 6-port SFP card into an ASA5555-X, how do the ports get allocated on the CLI ?

Do the card ports carry on form the copper ports beginning Gi0/8, Gi0/9 ..... or do they start at Gi1/0, Gi1/1 .... ?

Thanks.

Sorry - the last number may indeed start with 0 and go up. I don't have one on hand to verify and the installation and configuration guides are silent on that detail.

Here is a rear view of one though and you can see the base port numbering goes from 0 upwards (open in new tab to zoom):

When you use an optional I/O module on an ASA 5500-X, the added interfaces are numbered from Gi1/1 and up.

Hi Marvin,

So that is definite Gi1/1 up, not Gi1/0 ?

(Noting that in-built ints start at Gi0/1 .....)

/p
