Structure fire triggers Hawk Alert at University of Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) — A structure fire has triggered a Hawk Alert on the University of Iowa campus.

The alert sent at 3 p.m. says there is a fire at Clinton and Burlington Street and asks people to avoid the area. The fire is located across the street from the Voxman Music Building, which houses the school of music.

The building is the seven-story Hieronymus Square project, a hotel/condo development.

A crane operator had to be rescued from the crane above the fire, but was not injured.

Burlington Street between Clinton Street and Dubuque Street will be closed over

night as crews clean up the fire and treat roads in the area.
