Hampden House is a stunning Grade 1 listed building situated in over 350 acres of historic parkland and beech woods with far reaching views across the Misbourne Valley.
The Hampdens (later Earls of Buckinghamshire) are recorded as owning the site from before the Norman conquest, and living there until 1938. The house itself is Elizabethan however elements date to the 14th century.
Aside from its local historical significance, a number of locations in and around Aylesbury are named after John Hampden (John Hampden School, Hampden Vets); John Hampden is also commemorated with a statue in the town centre, few people know that this beautiful stately home is situated just a few miles from Aylesbury town centre. The house today, whilst closed to the public, operates an exclusive wedding venue and has featured on television and in films (Bridget Jones, Hammer House, Midsummer murders). A public footpath enables access around the edge of the estate.
