This 2001 BMW R1100S was purchased new by the seller and is powered by a 1,085cc opposed twin linked to a six-speed transmission and an enclosed driveshaft. Finished in yellow with black and red accents, it is equipped with triple Brembo anti-lock disc brakes, 17″ alloy wheels, and Telelever front and Paralever rear suspension with adjustable Öhlins monoshocks in addition to a stainless-steel exhaust system, a half fairing, both side and center stands, and a stepped two-up Corbin seat. Following 10 years in storage, the bike was serviced in 2020 by changing the oils in the engine, gearbox, and final-drive housing along with flushing the brake fluid and replacing the battery, alternator belt, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel and brake lines, and tires. This R1100S is now offered at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature, a tool kit, BMW-branded side cases and mounts, a rear travel bag, spare parts, service invoices, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The bike is finished in yellow with black and red graphics and is equipped with a half-fairing that carries an integrated clear windscreen and dual mirrors. Additional equipment includes a stepped Corbin two-up seat, carbon-fiber fenders, and both center and side stands. The tail portion of the rear bodywork was replaced following a low-side crash in 2005.
Split-spoke 17″ alloy wheels wear Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires that were mounted in 2020. Anti-lock braking is provided by a pair of drilled rotors and four-piston Brembo calipers up front along with a single rotor and a two-piston Brembo caliper at the rear. Braided stainless-steel brake lines were installed in 2020, and the brake fluid was flushed at that time.
The bike rides on BMW’s Telelever front and Paralever single-sided-swingarm rear suspension, and both ends have been fitted with an adjustable Öhlins piggyback-reservoir monoshock.
Clip-on handlebars are mounted above the upper triple clamp and are equipped with adjustable levers and heated grips. The instrument panel houses a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline along with a digital clock. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 33k miles.
The air- and oil-cooled 1,085cc opposed twin is equipped with a Bosch Motronic MA 2.4 engine management system, magnesium alternator and valve covers, and a stainless-steel exhaust system with dual under-tail mufflers. Factory-rated output was 98 horsepower and 72 lb-ft of torque. Service in 2020 included changing the oil and replacing the battery and alternator belt along with the fuel pump, filter, and lines.
Power is sent to the rear wheel through a hydraulically actuated single-plate dry clutch, a six-speed transmission, and a driveshaft enclosed within the swingarm. The fluids in the gearbox and final-drive-housing were changed in 2020.
Included in the sale are a spare rear wheel, a Wunderlich rear bag, an alternate-length swingarm brace and corresponding side stand, and mounts for a pair of key-matched BMW-branded travel cases that will also accompany the bike along with a tool kit and a removed seat and cowl.
