Abstract

We have located two populations of L. karasmontana subsp. eberlanzii (Dinter & Schwantes) D. T. Cole that are surrounded by populations of L. francisci (Dinter & Schwantes) N. E. Brown. Plants from each species are separated by as little as 12 m. The apparent lack of hybrids between the two taxa rules out hybridization as a source for the elusive L. halenbergensis Tisch. that has not been seen since 1930.
