This member of the Crassulaceae
family was given
this name by
Hellmut R. Toelken in 1978. It is found in a small area of
Rosh Pinah, southern Namibia, growing in black limestone with little
water in winter and none in summer. Some to much sun. The flat
leaves can grow up to eight centimetres in diameter, the caudex up
to four centimetres or more in diameter. The flowers are greenish
with maroon stripes.
The genera name is an anagram of
Cotyledon; a closely-related genus. The species is named for
its usually single leaf.
This is a winter-grower. |
