Cactus Mammillaria Gracilis cv. Oruga Blanca

Putting it in full only once it has become accustomed to its environment in order to promote its growth.

Category:

Mammillaria Gracilis cv. white caterpillar is also known as Mammillaria Vetula subs. Gracilis caterpillar comes from Mexico and is curious for its color contrast of light green stem and white and woolly areoles reminiscent of small snowflakes or cotton balls.

It has a spherical globous shape with a diameter between five and ten centimeters per ten to fifteen centimeters high. Curiously, it seems that under the wooliness there are a handful of spines, but it only has radials (five to ten), which do not reach a centimeter, meaning that they are practically unseen.

The flowers are pink with bright yellow pistils and are not too large. It must also be said that, despite being a Mammillaria, the flowers do not rise in the form of a crown, but rather are scattered around the surface of the cactus.

The ideal temperature would be between eighteen and twenty-two degrees and receive direct sun most of the day. If you cannot bring the necessary sun and you must have it inside your house, you must put it in a very well-lit window where at least the sun touches a couple of hours in a row. As for the minimum temperature supported, we should not expose it to less than five positive degrees, but on time it can hold temperatures below zero degrees.

The irrigation must be moderate in summer, once a week, in spring once every fifteen days (if you hit once every fifteen days also in summer, nothing will happen), in autumn once a month and in winter it must stop giving water completely. As you know, before we provide water, we have to make sure that the substrate is completely dry.

Finally, despite being a cactus that is little known about and that is usually confused by Mammillaria Vetula because of its similarity, it has no great enemies, so all I could say to you is to watch over the excess water and moisture, as this will lead you to this precious specimen at death.
