Cacti Ferocactus robustus

It creates mountain-shaped colonies.

Category:

Ferocactus Robustus is native to Mexico and is commonly known as barrel cactus. It is one of the most cold-resistant cactus I know, as it can withstand temperatures of up to seven degrees’ negative. It also holds the heat very well and, this makes it an excellent cactus to decorate the outer rocks of the Mediterranean area.

In its natural habitat we can find it surrounded by shrubs, always in full sun and receiving water only during the summer months, on the other hand, if you have it indoors, I recommend that you water it between the months of March and October.

As for the spikes and flowering, it has between ten and fourteen radial spines and between four and six central ones, all measuring about six centimeters in length. The areolas are distributed and separated by the eight ribs that are quite prominent giving the cactus a form of cylindrical to globose. The flowers are bell-shaped and usually yellow with black seeds. Afterwards, these flowers give way to a yellow fruit.
