Short Bio

Miss Celia Bertin obtained her Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in June 2018. For her final year project, she led a team working on the design, manufacture, and development of a robotic five-axis additive manufacturing system. In September 2019, she graduated from the University of Sheffield (United Kingdom) with an MSc in Advanced Mechanical Engineering with first-class honours. During her research project entitled "Computational and Experimental Study of Flow Control Methods Applied to Fixed-Wing MAVs", she conducted multiple computational fluid dynamics 3D simulations to compare the aerodynamic effects of vortex generators and boundary layer suction devices on low aspect ratio wings at low Reynolds numbers. The results were validated by wind tunnel experiments. In October 2019, she joined AANTC as a research assistant in aerodynamics and performance sports engineering. At AANTC, she is performing high-resolution CFD simulations to study the aerodynamics of drone propellers and fuselage interaction, as well as the aerodynamics and hydrodynamics in track cycling and windsurfing, working in collaboration with the Hong Kong Olympic teams.
