CardioidSuperlux CMH8E

Cardioid Condenser Microphone

The Superlux CMH8E is a large-diaphragm FET condenser designed for broadcast use. Its end-address design, combined with its integrated yoke mount, facilitate desktop stand placement for podcasting and broadcasting.

The large-diaphragm capsule appears to be a K67 copy: a dual-diaphragm, center-terminated, dual-backplate model, presumably 34mm in diameter. The diaphragm material is 3-micron Mylar.

A 3-position switch controls the low-frequency response. With the low-cut filter disabled, the mic’s response has a -3dB point at 50Hz. The first level cut has a -3dB point at 70Hz. The second level cut has a -3dB point at 130Hz.

A second switch enables a -10dB pad.

The mic’s frequency response is very flat from 80Hz-12kHz, with two wide, smooth presence boosts: +1dB at 4.5kHz, and +2dB at 10kHz.

The Superlux CMH8E is also known as: CM-H8E.
